It is feared a sensory garden especially designed for a severely disabled lady, which includes a much loved water feature may well disappear. The sensory garden in Sussex includes a variety of different smelling flowers and herb and a water feature in the form of a pond.

Regional newspaper This is Sussex reports that Miss Khan loves to spend time in her garden. Miss Khan caught meningitis as a young girl, then again a number of years later, resulting in her needing round the clock-care, which is provided by her family.

Her brother Mr Khan commented:

“She relies on her family 24 hours a day. Because of this, her only pleasure was to go out into the garden in the spring and summertime. We had different smelling flowers and herbs for her to enjoy and also had wind chimes and a pond put in. It is like her sanctuary, she loves it out there," he told This is Essex news.

Unfortunately, the former council home's gardens could soon be built on and Mr Khan fears that he will have to move as a result, as plans dictate that Ms Khan could lose her disabled ramp, the only access she has into her garden.

The addition of a garden pond water feature can bring a variety of benefits to gardens. They add a new dimension to an outdoor space, with variety, sound and motion.
